みんな大好き大谷翔平のとなりにいたわんちゃん！

言い過ぎでしょうか？

いやそんなことないですよね。

大谷翔平を嫌う日本人は世界中すみずみ探してもまずいないはず。

というわけで今回はオリジナル英語速読ドリルとして大谷翔平とわんちゃんについて長文コンテンツを作成してみました。

Shohei Ohtani, 29, was born on July 5th, 1994, which was the year of “DOG” in the Chinese zodiac.  Literally, he seems to be crazy about dogs.  Everyone is now curious about an adorable dog that was sitting right next to Shohei Ohtani while he was waiting for the result of an MVP.  Thanks to Ohtani-san, the dog has become one of the most famous dogs in the whole world.  The luckiest one, so to speak.  Let’s find out more about that lucky doggy!

As is often the case with most puppies, the dog walked away from him, while Shohei Ohtani was sitting on a couch.  The dog was out of sight for a while.  It was probably broadcast throughout the world; however, it didn’t matter to THAT puppy.  It is tough for any dogs to sit still unless they are well-trained.  Plus, I believe that “all puppies are created equal” and that they have the right to enjoy freedom anytime, of course.  Anyway, Shohei was left alone and looked a little lost.  Obviously Shohei wanted it to come back to him as soon as possible, so he said with a smile, “Come” in a gentle voice.  At that moment, he did not call out the dog’s name.  Besides, he never mentioned its name while he was with it the whole time.

Surprisingly or NOT, Shohei Ohtani won his second MVP award unanimously.  I clapped my hands in front of the TV saying, “Congratulations!”  So did a lot of Japanese people.  At the same time, I also gave the puppy a big hand saying, “What a good boy!”  The puppy also won an MVP: Most Valuable Puppy!  Well said!

The mystery of the puppy with the superstar ended up drawing a lot of attention to its breed.  Shohei might have just welcome the puppy.  He might have not decided what to name the dog yet.  That’s why he didn’t call its name at all.  Maybe, maybe not.  A lot of people who love Shohei Ohtani must be trying to get the same breed.  That’s for sure.

Although the puppy looks like the Border Collie, it is not.  It is The Kooikerhondje.  The Kooikerhondje is originally from Netherland, and it is quite difficult to obtain in Japan.  There are approximately 150 Kooikerhonndjes in Japan.  It is obvious that many Japanese will try to get one of those Kooikerhonndje’s puppies.

The Kooikerhondje is an affectionate and energetic dog, so you need to take it out for a lot of exercise.   You must walk the Kooikerhondje twice a day.  At least 20 minutes of walk, more than 40 minutes of walk in total will be necessary.  In other words, the owner of the dog also needs to be as energetic as the Kooikerhondje.

Shohei Ohtani used to have a Golden Retriever named Ace.  He loved Ace so much, but Ace passed away when Shohei was about to leave for America.   Shohei was unable to see Ace for the last time.  I am sure that Ace has flown with Shohei and that it has been with him.  To anywhere and everywhere Shohei goes.
