Christmas is just around the corner? Not yet! Maybe it’s still a couple of blocks away. If you have a chance to travel to Finland all the way and meet Santa Claus in person, you don’t have to keep on reading. But if not, maybe I can help you enjoy this special season of the year in a little different way.
Have you ever sent him a letter? Him? Yes, it’s him. Santa Claus! Here’s Santa Claus’ Address:
Santa Claus
Santa Claus’ Main Post Office
Tähtikuja 1
96930 Napapiiri (Arctic Circle)
FINLAND
Maybe some of us are wondering if anyone could send him a letter or meet him in person. Good news! At Santa Claus’ Office in Finland, the young or the old, everyone is welcome to meet Santa Claus. Santa Claus is always happy to hear from kids, right? What about us? I mean someone who USED TO BE A KID. An adult like me. Fortunately enough, searching for a little information on the Santa Claus Village’s Website, I found out that anyone can send a card or letter to Mr. Santa Claus. Everyone from all over the world. He will accept a letter from you too. What would you like to tell him in the letter?
You can meet Santa Claus and cross the magical Arctic Circle every day at Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi in Lapland, Finland. Rovaniemi is the Official Hometown of Santa Claus in Lapland.

How many people send a letter to Santa Claus every year? Believe it or not, Santa Claus gets as many as half a million letters from people all over the globe! Every year! Unbelievable! He must be quite busy reading them and preparing gifts for children of the world at the same time. I am sure that he will definitely need some volunteers to help him out. No wonder that he needs thousands of ELVES!
Did you know that every year Santa Claus receives around half a million letters to his post office at the Arctic Circle? The letters arrive from children and adults all over the world!

Through the internet, we can enjoy a little atmosphere of Santa Claus Village. We can take a look at the Arctic Circle. It has a live camera. That would be nice if you stood right in front of the camera at the Arctic Circle and waved at your family and friends. Make sure that you let them know when you get there.

We did enjoy a scenery of the Arctic Circle through the live camera, didn’t we? Are there any other ways to enjoy the festive atmosphere in Santa Claus Village? Here’s a way like a jingle all the way. We can create our own elf name! You will be given a name of elf at the official website of Santa Claus Village. I put my first and last name in the boxes, and the name that they gave me was Rosolli. What is “Rosolli,” I wondered. I was curious to know the meaning of this word, so I searched on the internet typing like this, “Rosolli, meaning, Finland”
Then I got the answer in an instant. I have learned something new. “Rosolli” is a colorful salad in Finnish cuisine. It is a cold side dish which is also eaten as the traditional Finnish Christmas meal. I am happy with the result because I love both vegetables and salad. I also love all the different colors. “Rosolli.” That is a perfect elf name for me. I guess I am going to have to make some colorful salad this holiday season using all kinds of vegetables in different colors: red, green, yellow, and so on.
Rosolli is made of cooked, diced root vegetables, especially beetroot, carrot and potato, often combined with one or more of pickled cucumber (of either the vinegar or brine type), raw onion and apple. Variations may also include additional ingredients such as pickled herring or boiled egg, in which case the salad is more likely served as a starter (appetizer) rather than a side dish to a main course. Rosolli is often served with a dressing made of whipped cream or a soured cream product available in Finland called kermaviili (being a type of viili made with sour cream), laced with vinegar or the pickling liquid of beetroot, which also colours the cream pink.
